Massage therapy is safe and beneficial for most people, but there are times when it is best to speak with your GP first. As a therapist, part of my responsibility is knowing when to refer you on rather than treat.
Speak To Your GP First If
You have unexplained pain, numbness, or weakness; recent severe injury; signs of infection such as heat, swelling, and fever; a new or changing lump; or a medical condition where massage may not be appropriate without clearance. The same applies if you are unsure about a new medication or recent surgery.
Why This Matters
Some symptoms are the body asking for medical assessment, not soft tissue treatment. Getting the right care in the right order keeps you safe and means treatment is genuinely helpful when we do begin.
If you contact me and I feel medical review is needed first, I will always tell you honestly. Your wellbeing comes before a booking.
